On June 2, the inaugural meeting of the Yunnan Provincial Professional Committee for Prevention and Control of Myopia in Children was held in Kunming. The meeting invited a number of industry experts and scholars to hold special lectures, and conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on new concepts, new progress, new technologies, and standardized diagnosis and treatment of myopia prevention and control in children.
Professor Liu Longqian from West China Hospital of Sichuan University shared the latest clinical situation of the Seewant Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles at the meeting. He introduced that the relevant data came from a single-center, randomized, double-blind, prospective clinical trial conducted by West China Hospital of Sichuan University. The preliminary clinical results indicate that Seewant Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles has significant myopia controlling effect.
A total of 176 participants aged 8-12 years were enrolled in this study, with equivalent spherical refractive error ranging from -0.75 to -4.00D in both eyes. These subjects were randomly divided into four groups. 116 subjects have completed the 12-month follow-up examination, and the specific situation is as follows:
Group 1: wearing Monocular Spectacles (n=29);
Group 2: Wearing Type-A Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles (n=28);
Group 3: Wearing Type-B Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles (n=28);
Group 4: Wearing Type-C Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles (n=31).
Wearing Type A Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles for 12 months, the average refractive index change in children was -0.43±0.32D (compared with the myopia delay effect of single-vision
glasses, which was 35.82%, the same below), and the axial length change was 0.248±0.175mm (37.84%);
Wearing Type-B Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles for 12 months, the average refractive index change in children was -0.42±0.39D (37.31%), and the axial length change was
0.248±0.178mm (37.84%);
Wearing Type-C Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles, namely Seewant Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles for 12 months, the average refractive index change in children was -0.13±0.40D
(80.60%), and the axial length change was 0.135±0.175mm (66.17%).
Among the three groups of defocused customized glasses with different designs, the Type-C group not only performed better in controlling myopic progression, but also had a better effect on axial growth.
Compared with the data of the single light group, the effect of Seewant Defocus Customized Myopia Spectacles on controlling myopia growth can reach 80.60%, and the effect of controlling axial growth can reach 66.17%. It has significant effects on controlling myopia. This study is still ongoing, and there will be more research results with longer experimental periods and more comprehensive experimental data to be announced in the future!
